Buzz is having her tonsils removed in a few weeks. She has been EXTREMELY apprehensive about the process, but I felt like things had changed this morning. We had a consultation with the ear/nose/throat doctor who I felt had won Buzz over because he told her he had found a baby great horned owl this summer and built a wooden platform for it to live on and fed it raw meat until it flew away in the fall. Buzz listened to the story, raptured and then was much more at ease about the whole process. (Or so I thought.)
5 hours later....
Mama: You're going to have your tonsils removed in a couple of weeks.
Buzz: NOOOOO!
Mama: What's wrong? What are you worried about?
Buzz: (whining and very worried) I don't want to grow up!

I love, love, love reading about your sweet girls. I was 4 when I had my tonsils taken out and my reward was having the doctor pierce my ears while I was asleep. 29 years later I still have the holes to prove it. :) That, and the fact that there were popsicles in the freezer that A. I got to pick out and B. no one else was allowed to touch--helped me survive! (I remember it all clear as day...)
Mr Fantastic had his taken out (adenoids, too)the summer before first grade. he was a champ!
And trust me, he is FAR from grown up!
Good luck to her!
